Coborrowers on Credit Card

We filed BK and included an account that is joint w/our son. We added him after we had accumulated the majority of the debt. Of course Cr Card Company is now hounding him for payment. We thought we were only adding him as 'authorized user' but no, we gave them his SS number so he is co-borrower. Can they saddle him w/the entire balance? He has paid everything he charged to the account.
