What State do you live in? Is the house in both your names?

By the card being in his name only, he is solely responsible for the debt.

However, if you live in a state that recognize common law marriages, and his name is on the house, it may possible that they can come after the house if the house is not exempted from creditors.

But before they can do anything, they must get a judgment from the court first.
They would have to notify you of the court date. At that time you can present your position in court. After the judge hears your side he might not give the a favorable Judgment.
