out dated credit cards

When a company is sold and old cards have been changed in to new company name. == with the new company having new cards sent each year to the public. Should the public be using the old cards from the sold company?? when they are not the same name. New company has been in buiness with the name change for 4 years. Old cards are at least 5=7 years old.
