Collection agencys calling wrong person

How does one stop tons of collectors from calling the wrong number ? I can stop one by cussing him out and tell him not to call back , but another one will pick it up . Being nice to them only encourages them ,or another one in his group to call again.
I have absolutely no connection to the person they want. I think my number was mistakenly put on a list as the dead beats number, and is being circulated around the U.S.A.
I could change my phone # , but I have had it for over 30 yrs. and should'nt have to.
