Ok guys help me out here with this one. Around Christmas time I wrote a check at a well known retail store. After it not clearing my account for almost a month I called the store to inquire why and they said they didn't know but that it had not been returned. I said "yea well it wouldn't have cause the money was there when I wrote the check and it's still there." Never got any notification from my bank about anything being returned and we all know IF if had been the bank would have gotten their 25 bucks. Finally the check showed up and cleared the acct. Fast forward to now-I received a letter notifying me that I owe them a $25. fee for a returned check, but that the check had cleared ELECTRONICALLY. I'm like..........huh? I think it's a scam to get me to pay for a returned check that was never put through in the traditional manner. I think they sent it to the recovery unit and they out it through electronically and now think I'm gonna pay the fee. I told em I was not stupid and to go **** themselves. So what do you all think?
