Exterra and Cash America- Settle?

Hi all,
A friend of mine got into trouble with some pay-day
loans a couple of years ago (not past SOL), and he
set up repayment through consumer credit counseling,
which went fine, except for one company- CashAmerica.
They kept saying that they were not receiving the payments etc and turned the account over to Allen Lewis. CCC proved that payments had been sent, and
CashAmerica admitted that the payments had just been sitting on someone's desk. So, he didn't hear from
these people in over a year, and now Exterra (CA) is
handling the account and wants the full amount. His validation period runs out in 3 days, and he thinks
he should try to make a deal, either with CashAmerica,
or Exterra. I think he needs to speak with an attorney
ASAP before they drain his checking account for the
full amount. Any comments?? Thanks!
