credit issue

I believe i am an authorized user on one of my credit cards that i signed on with my mother when i was about 19. I am 28 now and i have large credit issues due to this card deterring me from purchasing things. I have requested the papers showing me my status with the credit card company from them and they tell me they will send it and yet they never do. I know that as an authorized user on the card, it should not affect my credit which it has for the last ten years. but i cannot prove my status as they will not send me the paperwork. Could you tell me what recourse i can take to force them to help me clear my credit. thanks,
