why chat--charge off and balance being reported and collect

Had a charge-off from major department store.. RMA collecting on it.. Major dep. store reporting a balance and RMA reporting a balance under collections. Same account.. Have tried to get original creditor to remove tradeline. Original creditor also stated they took it back from RMA and re-assigned it.. I have tried repeatedly to get the original creditor tradeline removed and Rma.. Both keep on verifying after original creditor told me Rma no longer collecting for them. What can I do? thanks
