We were not talking about a standard "debit card",but about the ATM Visa/Mastercard cards.

They can be used either as a debit card or a "charge" card.

As to the $50.00 fraud limit, many banks DO have a "stop loss" of $50. if you notify them within 24 hours, some have no "stop loss" and some, if you are a good customer will refund ALL of the fraudulent withdrawals.

HOWEVER, it is a BIGGER hassle to get $$ back into your checking account timewise than it is to have charges reversed on your credit cards.
