Welcome to the world of predatory lending. Doubtless, to be fair, the company who is contacting you to see 'you you are doing' is a fine and loving group of caring people who really do want to help.
I may have missed it in your letter, but one can't help but think that with this nice CONsolidation conundrum all debt including credit cards becomes debt secured against your home.
THis is in 'harmony' with a long term goal of the thugs in the credit card pseudo-industry, to by any means possible convert unsecured credit card debt into secured debt, preferably against one's residence.
You truly are better off just paying down the cards, and making an extra mortgage payment as conditions permit.
These companies are shameless, relentless, predatory. Like the serpent of Eden, they promise much, mislead adroitly, and become your worst nightmare once you submit to their wiles.
Chances are they've been obtaining your credit report, the better to solicit you. That may or may not be legal, perhaps a complaint started by phone and enlarged upon via mail with the Federal Trade Commission will take the starch out of their amber-stained sheets.
