Certainly not a lawyer but 2 thougths. First of all, The Truth In Lending Act {Reg. Z} defines a credit card as an open account. Secondly, I call recall 2 Ohio posters on this site in the past year or so who went before a judge with the 4 year SOL cc argument and reported success. WIsh I could recall their nics. They ask a series of questions over a period of weeks and then, reported favorable outcomes in court. Hopefully they still lurk and will chime in on this issue.
