Hi,

thanks for taking the time to read my problem and any helpful suggestions you might have.

6 years ago, I purchased a Chrysler LHS in order to help improve my credit history. My payments were almost always on time and last September, I have settled the loan with the lender.

I was late with 2 last payments, and was offered to settle the account. I did not need to, because was going to pay both at same time, but the lender said it would save me money so I agreed. The account was closed.

Two days ago, I applied for another car loan, since the LHS started falling apart shortly after I finished paying for it. The new loan was refused. I was told that my credit history reports an outstanding balance, and that it is 180 days over due on my car.

After calling the first lender, I find out that they made a mistake and that it will take time before they can do anything.

What can I do to force the lender to correct the credit report with the bureaus and have them contact my new lender, assuring them that it was their mistake?
will the new lender accept this? who regulates these issues?

I know it is my own fault for having bad credit in the first place...but making it impossible to repair is just not fair.

thanx.
