Ok, so you're saying that the vehicle's value is 9K and its paid off ?? Fl's vehicle exemption is pretty stingy for sure. Trading it in for another vehicle that will be financed with little equity is certainly an option. However, you shoud wait a few months before filing since you'd have to include the new vehicle in your bankruptcy but you can reaffirm the new loan to keep the car.

If I were you, I'd try for a couple of free consultations with bankruptcy lawyers and see what they say about the vehicle and what you could do.
