Sorry for lack of info! I live in Georgia. This was charged off in December, 02, my last payment was either July or August, 02. CCB told me in Janaury when I called to see if I could settle it, that NCO had it. I validated with NCO, and right before the 30 days would have been up I get a call and a letter (same day) from Hanna & Associates, a law collection agency in my hometown. I then validated with them, and received the letter (noted in this post to you). They sent me 12 photocopies of CCB's contract and by my having and using their credit card, I was bound to. They also sent me a 1 page computer print out of a computer screen that I guess they copied showing the entry of my collection with them. I guess that was supposed to prove that they were given this acct. It doesn't say from CCB or NCO. My question is what do I do now? SHould I just contact them and see what they will settle for, or should I stall on that and wait "to hear from them when they get further info in from CCB"? Yeah, I'm sure CCB's running all around trying to gather it all! If I want to press for validation of how they came to the figure they have, do I have that right or am I just prolonging this and adding more to the register. I can't get too pushy as I don't have a lump sum to settle with. I will have to hope that if they are willing to settle, they will also be willing to take monthly payments until January of 2004, at which time I could pay up the balance of whatever we settle for. I just do not want this to go to court for garnishment (I would lose my job) or for a lien against my property. Any help re the above in regard to my next step with collector? Thanks.
