can I get my money back?

Some of you read my posts late last year about the lawsuit on my dh's repo. The suit was dismissed in March last year due to lack of prosecution, and we stopped paying. WE were contacted by the attorney for Col. Cap., and stated that if we didn't start to pay again, they would restart the lawsuit. Why Chat told me to send his val. letter, and I never heard from them again. While all this was going on, Gulf States said they purchased the account from Col. Cap.in the summer of 2001, after we already had a court date set from Col. Cap. We paid these guys over $1000, and I have no clue where it went! (probably just lined their wallets). Is there anything we can do? I sent a letter to gulf state in October, and in December, a collection for the deficiency shows up on dh's report from Sherman. It has since been removed. Any thoughts here? Thanks, Patti
