If you told them, from now...all deals have to be in writing..so be it. I would wait a little while and see what happens. The decision to "Pay them what you can" is clearly up to you. I would not.
I think it's important to understand a couple more things. It's a common misconception that if you pay just a little on a debt they will never sue you. Wrong. It's not true. If they want to take you to court, they can. I am not pretending I'm a lawyer, tho. Some people think paying off a collection or writeoff will make it disappear of the report. Wrong again. It won't...and it will not help your score one point. A "Paid" chargeoff is just as bad as a "Not Paid" one. Good luck.
