Thanks LadynRed for responding. Drat on GA law!! Yes, I have sent the validation letter from creditnet to them about a week ago and just received green card back. Have not received anything from them yet but a phone call the day before I validated. Last payment of mine was August I think. Called CCH in January to find out if I could settle but they just charged it off to NCO. Received a letter from NCO and validated about 3 weeks after receiving the letter. I am totally new to all this). Was just preparing to get the 15 day letter prepared to send NCO when I got the phone call at work saying nothing but they were calling to see if they could settle my account with me. Thinking I was talking to NCO, I said what account and she said the CCB account. I told her I would not discuss anything with them until I received my validation. She said we sent out a letter, you should be getting it today. I thought I had them for sure since a "letter" surely would not validate this $1,000 charge which is now up to $3,004 with all their monthly charges. Got the letter when I got home and it was from "Hanna & Associates, an attorney collection firm!!! Obviously when I validated NCO, they or OC must have given it to another collector. So I sent out another validation letter to Hanna the very next day. And here I sit. I expect to have to pay something but if I settle I want it to be for deletion, which I know CCB never does. Hoping to stall this as long as possible as I could only give them about $300 lump and then have to pay $100 monthly if they'd accept that (unless of course I can get them on violations). Hence, my question about garnishment. Since their the slimiest of the slime attorneys, I don't know whether or not they'll go for a judgment right away or will try to negotiate with me. DO NOT want it to go that far. That's about where I am at this point. Figure I'd just wait now and see what Hanna gives me re validation,if anything, or maybe I'll just end up with yet a new collector!!
