Thank you for the e-mail. Can I report them to anyone? This was not the first collection agency Providian sent my debt to who told me this. The first collection agency told me I could pay $350 to have it settled. Once I did this, they did not report it settled and when I contacted the collection agency my agent had quit (so they say). Then, it was passed to another agency who got me to pay the other $700.00, leaving $300 owed. It just seems that this can't be a legal practice, or that the Settled in Full letter from the collection agency should be some sort of legally binding document. It seems silly to me they can give me a document that says I owe nothing but is not worth the paper it's printed on.
