two cars still not paid off, will creditors take them?

I will appreciate if you can answer my question. Since I was laid off last year, it a nightmare. Now, my husband has four creditors after him( four his own c.c accounts with total 17k in amount). We don't have a house, but have two cars, still under loan, one is only have 4 months to go, by then, the retail value is 7k; the other car has 15 months to go. Both cars are joint owned by us. Will the creditors put a lien on the cars or take them?
We need to cars to take the kid to school and hunt for a job. Thanks.
